Excessive study calls for a number of deaths in Iraq has reached 655,000

By David Brown / Washington Post

A team of American and Iraqi epidemiologists estimates that 655,000 people have died in Iraq since the coalition forces in March 2003 than would have died if the invasion had arrived did not occur.

The estimate, which is generated by residents in the survey of a random sample of households across the country, is much greater than that produced by other groups, including the Government of Iraq.
