I want to make on a tripod in both directions from a professional mini-DV camera, but do not want to spend too much money. Can someone me a tripod? I saw a Manfrotto 344B with a head 501 on eBay. Doing?

Fluid head 501 is rated for 6 kg, it should be good to go.
